Ten Years of Wedding Photography: A Love Letter to the Ones Who Chose Us First

Some of Our Favorite Weddings in Antigua Guatemala

10 years in the making

After nearly a decade of documenting destination weddings in Antigua Guatemala and around the world, we finally have a place to showcase the stories that shaped our journey. And for us professional destination wedding photographers who have seen it all, there are certain weddings that leave an imprint, where everything from the weather to the table linens to the way they looked at each other just… aligned.

I’ve spent the past decade documenting those special kinds of days around the world and as we launch josephnance.com, it only feels right to take a moment to reflect.

This is for the couples who chose us early on and the ones who helped us build something real.

Jade & Jamal | Lake Atitlan & Santa Clara

From the very beginning, Jade and Jamal set the tone. From their engagement session on Lake Atitlán to their jaw-dropping ceremony in the ruins of Santa Clara, their wedding was layered, expressive, and unapologetically them. Their vision transformed the traditional venue into something wildly personal and creatively bold. The design was tropical with editorial flair, merging modern elegance with lush, organic textures. Wedding details included passport-style invitations, hand-tied tropical stems, glass hurricanes with taper candles, and a tablescape full of vibrant anthuriums and trailing greenery. It was one of those weddings that reminded us why Antigua Guatemala is more than a backdrop. It’s a living part of the story and the perfect canvas for personal expression and complete and utter vibes.

Rachel & Diego | Hotel Pensativo & San José El Viejo

Our second shooter Edgar still calls this one his favorite wedding ceremony, and just looking at the photos, you’ll understand why. Timeless portraits. Thoughtful styling. The kind of wedding that lingers in your mind for all the right reasons. Their trust let us capture real moments with the kind of intention and authenticity we’re always chasing.

The colonial arches and lush greenery at Hotel Pensativo offered the perfect frame for Rachel’s portraits. The rooftop ceremony was complemented with a slight breeze and Volcán de Agua in the distance. This moment was what dreams are made of. And no wedding in Antigua Guatemala is complete without a stroll through the iconic cobblestone streets. The colorful doors and textures of the historic city were a perfect backdrop to the couple’s energy. The wedding procession through Antigua led to an elegant reception at San José El Viejo, where the tables were lined with antique brass candlesticks, natural linen runners, and floral centerpieces in soft citrus tones that brought a vibrant charm to the ancient venue.

Harry & Joe | Casa Trocolli & Santa Clara

Photographed by Franco Giomi, this was one of the most unforgettable gay destination weddings we’ve had the honor to document. Harry’s family is from Guatemala, and celebrating in Antigua was a heartfelt tribute to his family’s heritage. The weekend started at Casa Troccoli with perfectly tailored suits and vintage cologne, and ended under the stars at Pensativo House Hotel with champagne, candlelight, and one of the most joyful dance floors we’ve ever witnessed. Somewhere in between driving through the cobblestone streets in a classic convertible, pausing for portraits in front of bougainvillea-covered walls, and exchanging vows at Santa Clara, everything about this wedding just felt right. It was love without apology, and joy in its truest form. Authentic, magnetic, and full of heart.

Lacy Rae & Andrew | Casa Trocolli & Capucinas

When an LA couple gets married in Antigua, this is the result: refined, effortless, and cinematic. Lacy Rae and Andrew brought a deeply personal vision to their wedding. With roots in Guatemala and careers in the entertainment industry, they knew how to create a setting that felt both intimate and visually striking. Andrew’s mother, a celebrated floral designer, helped curate the vision of their remarkable wedding design. The ceremony at Capuchinas unfolded inside a historic rotunda, framed by a full circle of white lilacs and garden roses with honeysuckle accents, glowing in soft natural light. The reception took on a refined glow, with towering taper candles in brass holders, neutral textures, and a design language that felt modern, timeless, and completely their own. But what made it unforgettable wasn’t just the setting, it was the way they looked at each other, the ease of the celebration, and the quiet kind of love that filled the room.

Adriana & Pierce | Villa Bokeh & Iglesia San Juan del Obispo

A wedding that was pure elegance from start to finish, defined by grace. Adriana, originally from Guatemala, brought an effortless sense of style to every frame, with both the ceremony and celebration deeply personal and rooted in family legacy. The day unfolded like a classic film, beginning with a church ceremony at one of Antigua’s most serene venues and ending at Villa Bokeh, the most sought-after destination wedding venue in Guatemala. An air of old-world glamour carried through every detail, from the crystal chandelier-lit dinner to the dark wood tablescapes adorned with soft white lisianthus and climbing jasmine. The result was a striking, soulful, and unforgettable wedding that felt fresh, refined, and entirely their own.

Aura & Felix | Villa Bokeh

Villa Bokeh was the perfect setting for Aura and Felix’s celebration, where they were most excited to bring their guests to a country most of them had never been to. Set just outside of Antigua, the Villa Bokeh wedding venue and its reflective lake, glass conservatory, and lush garden paths offered a stunning setting that framed every moment. From their first look to the mariachi-led procession, the day flowed with ease and intention. Aura’s timeless lace gown, vintage car arrival, and candlelit dinner with long farm tables and terracotta urns overflowing with baby’s breath and yellow roses were just some of the highlights from their exquisite Antigua Guatemala wedding.
