THE TEAM

Joseph Nance | Founder, Photographer

Joseph is a soulful visual storyteller who uses a cinematic, photojournalistic approach to document authentic memories for his luxury wedding clients and preserve stories worth telling for generations to come.

Joseph’s storytelling skills were seeded and watered throughout his childhood in Appalachia, as his mother read to him and his father and sister honed their own photography skills. It was years before Joseph would pick up a camera—at university, where he photographed sports and events to pay his tuition—but the gritty, gentle passion of rural America was already informing the frames he would seek and the places he’d gravitate toward. A competitive scholarship from the US Department of State took him around Europe, photographing his travels, before he headed to Costa Rica and apprenticed with seasoned wedding photographers. That turned into an 8-plus-year love affair with the ancient ruins and colorful culture of Guatemala—one he shares with his couples to this day.

When he’s not capturing priceless moments-in-time during his couples’ weddings, Joseph trots the globe to visit friends and sharpens his creative skills by drawing, reading, playing music, and otherwise pursuing beauty.

Franco Giomi | Associate Photographer

Franco is a gifted image-maker and photography educator whose work seamlessly blends analog and digital photography, with a strong focus on Leica cameras and black-and-white imagery.

Franco has documented more than 300 weddings across multiple continents, transforming his search for images into visual stories that capture the essence of his couples and their love.

He seeks beauty in everyday details—whether a ripple in the water or an elder sitting in the shade of a fig tree. With his anthropological approach, his work celebrates new life in marriage & creates timeless narratives to be shared with generations to come.

EDGAR MARROQUIN | Film Photographer

Originally from Guatemala, Edgar has devoted his career to capturing portraits, product stories, and visual campaigns around the world. With over a decade of experience in storytelling and film photography, his approach balances documentary photography with compelling portraiture.

Edgar believes that powerful photographs go beyond technical precision or feeling, and that they must tell a story that is real, honest, and deeply felt. For him, every frame is a chance to honor a fleeting moment and turn it into an image that moves, endures, and resonates with those who observe it.

Through the years, Edgar has refined both his craft and his visual sensitivity, learning to recognize those subtle, once-in-a-lifetime moments that form the essence of meaningful events. More than just creating beautiful images, he seeks to capture human connection, genuine emotion, and the quiet interactions that unfold on one of the most important days in a couple’s life.

ALYSSA | Social Media Specialist

Alyssa is a passionate creative director with a background in ethical fashion, slow travel, and authentic storytelling. At Joseph Nance Studio, she leads the creative vision behind the socials, shaping each post and publication into an intentional extension of every couple’s unique story.

With a Master’s in Latin American Studies and over a decade living and working in Guatemala, Alyssa has travelled the world sharing untold stories, bringing a rare depth to everything she creates. Her instincts are aesthetically forward, emotionally layered, and editorially grounded, with an innate ability to translate culture and emotion into stories that resonate.

She approaches content creation not as marketing, but as storytelling rooted in humanity, integrity, and elegance. Every image, caption, and editorial she touches carries the same emotional depth and connection that defines the studio’s work.

If you value photography as an art, and want to have your wedding get captured with your personality in it, Joseph is the person to do it.

“Personally, I love being behind a camera and am really uncomfortable being in front of it. Joseph made it really easy for us, not feeling we had to pose—and everything just flowed.”
