Welcome & Getting Ready: Pre-Ceremony Spaces

Casa Troccoli – Casa Troccoli is one of the oldest homes in Antigua Guatemala built nearly 450 years ago, and its original structure still stands, now a boutique retreat with modern design and rooftop volcano views. Its spacious, light-filled suites give bridal parties and beauty teams the perfect bridal suite setting for makeup, hair, and champagne before the ceremony. I love photographing here because the natural light makes even the quietest getting-ready moments cinematic. The owners Anita and Maya treat every event like their own and are hand-on coordinators making sure your welcome dinner or reception is exactly what you envisioned.

Kuxtal Residence A private home with contemporary architecture, many rooms for wedding parties, and rooftop volcano views. It’s intimate and versatile, giving couples space for both family and beauty teams while keeping the morning atmosphere calm and unhurried. The mix of privacy and light makes Kuxtal one of the best pre-wedding prep spots for destination weddings in Antigua Guatemala.

Pensativo House Hotel – Historic charm meets timeless luxury. With colonial courtyards and elegant interiors, it’s ideal for bridal portraits framed by Antigua’s architecture. The hotel balances intimacy with sophistication, making it a top choice for couples seeking a luxury wedding hotel in Antigua Guatemala.

Clio’s – The patio at Clio’s Antigua is a hidden gem. With modern French fusion cuisine and a backdrop of the Agua volcano, the space adjacent to Hotel Mil Flores is one of the best options for a rehearsal dinner in Antigua Guatemala. Intimate, elegant, and adaptable to your vision.

Ceremony & Reception Venues

Villa Bokeh – Antigua’s most exclusive luxury wedding venue. Lush gardens, reflective pools, and private villas make this estate feel like an intimate world of its own. The way the light shifts throughout the day is unmatched, from golden portraits in the gardens to candlelit receptions under the stars.

San José El Viejo – Famous for its dramatic stone façade and golden-hour glow, this venue offers one of the most powerful ceremony backdrops in Antigua Guatemala. The wide courtyard is ideal for both ceremonies and receptions, transforming into a glowing, candlelit space at night.

Santa Clara – Towering archways and open courtyards create a cinematic backdrop that feels both grand and intimate. Santa Clara is the kind of ruin that transforms depending on how it’s styled — I’ve photographed everything from traditional ceremonies to modern floral installations here, and it always stuns.

Capuchinas Convent – With its iconic circular tower and rustic textures, Capuchinas is perfect for couples seeking something unconventional yet timeless. The architecture lends itself to intimate ceremonies and elopements, and the symmetry makes it one of my favorite venues to frame editorial portraits.

Santo Domingo – A blend of historic ruins and restored spaces, Santo Domingo is Antigua’s most versatile venue. It can host up to 2,000 guests while still preserving the intimacy of a historic setting. It’s where luxury and scale meet — one of the most sought-after destinations for large weddings in Central America.

Catholic Ceremonies in Antigua Guatemala

For couples planning a Catholic destination wedding in Antigua, the city offers some of the most iconic churches in Central America, including San Juan del Obispo, Escuela de Cristo and San Francisco el Grande. These historic sites blend spiritual tradition with baroque architecture, creating a sacred and visually stunning setting for your ceremony.

A Catholic wedding in Antigua does require advance planning. Most couples complete Pre-Cana classes in their home parish, followed by official paperwork, archdiocese approval, and coordination with the chosen church in Antigua. A local planner can help manage the process and ensure all documentation is received on time, typically at least two months before the ceremony.
